Hello DC Ladies!

I have to admit, I was having writer’s block when it came to this week’s post until I received an email from Google talking about and explaining their new privacy policy. I thought it would be worthwhile to just go over this quickly and easily as I think a lot of us have Google accounts and use them multiple times a day.

Google says: “We’re getting rid of over 60 different privacy policies across Google and replacing them with one that’s a lot shorter and easier to read. Our new policy covers multiple products and features, reflected our desire to create one beautifully simple and intuitive experience across Google.”
As always, Google says that user data privacy is a top priority and will remain secure. Probably the biggest change will be that when a user is logged into any Google account, their information will be shared across the whole Google platform. This information can and will be used for targeted advertisements and suggested searches the user may be interested in based on the information that Google has gathered on them. Google is also trying to integrate Google+ more into the whole Google experience.
The new policy does have some people in the tech world a little disgruntled because Google is essentially sharing almost every step you take while on the Google platform with 3rd party advertiser’s, something, for the most part, they currently do. I have read in a few places that Google will allow for users to opt in or out of this “service” which will make it a choice for users.
These changes will be effective March 1, 2012.
Do you all have any issues with the new Google policy change?
